GIFT GUIDE FOR CREATIVE KIDS
Whether you’re shopping for birthdays, Christmas or just a special treat, creative gifts are always a great idea for kids. Rather than more plastic and clutter that gets forgotten about, creative presents offer valuable experiences and opportunities to develop imagination and independence.
Here are some of our tried and tested creative gifts, as recommended by a primary school teacher and mother of a seven year old and four year old! I’ll keep adding to this list as I come across more great gifts so keep it bookmarked for that special occasion.
Clixo
Clixo is an award-winnning, magnetic play system. It's light, flexible and empowers kids to discover their creative confidence as they play and explore. The possibilities are endless with this creative toy and it’s small enough for on-the-go; it’s perfect for packing in your bag for travelling. There are different sets available but I would recommend the 42 piece rainbow set for a colourful option with so many options.
Eat Sleep Doodle
One of my favourite brands, Eat Sleep Doodle, has many gifts ideal for creative children. The heroines of history tablecloth/wall-hanging is perfect for using at home to colour in, while also discovering twenty influential women in history from across the world including Boudicca, Sacagawea and Joan of Arc.
Fashion Designer Studio
This Fashion Designer Studio is such a good price and comes with tons of stencils, fabrics, templates and stationery to get designing outfits with. My only concern with this studio is the lack of variation in body types. Nonetheless, it has offered hours of designing and creating to my 7 year old.
Instant Camera
Photography is such a brilliant creative hobby for all ages and this studio creator camera from Canal Toys is a great tool to get started with. It’s easy enough for little ones to use and the photos print out, in black and white, on paper at the touch of a button. The set comes with pens and stickers to decorate the printouts and the camera itself has selfie modes and video options.
Magic Water Painting
Water painting is such a great option if you’re not keen on paints and mess at home! With minimal set-up and super quick to tidy away, these are a must-have for busy households. This Craft Buddy Magic Water Painting Kit is perfect for 18 months+ (although much older children enjoy these too!) and comes with 16 reusable, wipeable mats.
Castle Art Supplies
Decent art supplies are always a great option for budding artists. Even my 4 year old is excited to use quality pencils and pens. You’ll likely be surprised at the difference in the artwork they produce and their concentration levels when using good quality art equipment. Not only do they feel like ‘real artists’ but seeing better results is much more motivating and rewarding than using old felt tips that are barely working! Castle Art do excellent art sets for children and adults - the pencils in this set are highly pigmented and come in a hand zip case too.
Custom Clothing and Gifts
Of course, I couldn’t leave this blog post here without mentioning our very own gift shop. Transforming your child’s artwork into a t-shirt, sweatshirt or bag is a unique gift and a great way to show them how much you value their creations.
