WHAT TO EXPECT AT OUR STAY & CREATE CLUB
Our Stay & Create sessions are ideal for 2-7 year olds (although people of all ages find something fun and creative to enjoy) and are a great opportunity for engaging in a range of art and craft activities, in a safe, welcoming environment. From weekly classes to birthday parties, our art and craft sessions are perfect to play, create and explore.
ARTS AND CRAFTS
From collaging to painting, junk modelling and scissor skills, these adult and child sessions are jam-packed with creative activities for your little ones to enjoy (without the tidying up after!!). There is nothing more disheartening than spending ages setting up an activity at home for your child to take one look at it and decide it’s not for them. That’s why the Stay & Create art and craft club is so brilliant - your child can try new activities and lead the way. You’ll be able to see what they are interested in and, if you fancy, recreate more of the same at home. Activities and ideas are deliberately kept simple so that you can pick up ideas and tips from the classes too.
You’ll also find information sheets dotted around the sessions, if you’re interested in finding out more about how to help your child develop their scissor skills or fine motor skills, for example. We always have copies of these sheets with us too so just let us know if you’d like a paper copy to take home.
You’ll find lots of opportunities for mark-making and fine motor skills at this art and craft club, alongside sensory play (the rice tray is always a big hit!). These activities all contribute to the Early Learning Goals of Communication and Language, Physical Development, Literacy and Expressive Arts and Design.
FOCUS ACTIVITY: As well as plenty of child-led art and craft activities, each session will also have a focus activity led by an experienced teacher. These activities will largely be STEAM based (science, technology, engineering, art and maths), include problem solving and creativity. Alongside these activities you will find questions you may wish to discuss with your child, as well as key vocabulary. Your use of these will depend on the age, ability and interest of your child, so use them as much or as little as you require.
BOOKS
As a primary school teacher, I am hugely passionate about literacy and developing early reading skills. For this reason, you will always find a beautiful basket of books at mini art and craft club, themed around the session, both newly published and some classics too. Quality reading materials are so important during the early years (and beyond!) so a lot of thought goes into exactly which books are shared with your little ones.
Want to join us for a session in our Wakering studio or at venues across Southend and Leigh? Book a space online now. Or if you fancy a mini art and craft birthday party for your little one, we can come to a venue of your choice, just get in touch.
